Corey Green writes funny middle-grade books
(grades 4-6, ages 9-12) that are filled with mischief and laughter.
Buckley School Books are a collection of books about the sixth graders
in Mr. Hoker's class. Trouble seems to find them, especially when
they’re trying to be good.
- Zapped! -
Inventing Stan was easy... Kyle, the new kid in school, invents an
imaginary student to take the blame for a prank that goes wrong.
When Stan takes on a life of his own, the kids get into more trouble
than they ever imagined. Making Stan behave is impossible!
- Brainstorm - No matter
how hard Brian tries, he just doesn't understand other people the
same way he understands science. Brian gets brainstorms, great ideas
for cool things. Sometimes Brian is too smart for his own good--and
his brainstorms backfire. Spectacularly!
- Double Switched -
Connor’s dad says make straight A’s or no baseball--but that’s not so
easy when Connor has been Double Switched. Switched ballparks,
switched classes, switched baseball positions...the bases are loaded
with problems for Connor. Can he live up to his dad’s high
standards? Would his hero Jackie Robinson approve of Connor's
choices?
Characters in Buckley School Books are
just like the kids in your class, except that you know what they are
thinking when the stink bomb goes off in the middle of history class.
These stories captivate readers because
they are realistic: “In addition to being an author, I am a teacher, so
I am always around children who are the same age as my characters. I
love it when I meet a student in my class who is just like one of my
characters.” Corey smiles, but doesn’t answer, when asked if she helps
her students create havoc.
Corey Green says the world would be
boring without brainstorms and backfires, pranks and hi-jinks, stunts
and shenanigans, larks and ... hey, this is beginning to sound like a
lesson on writing and word choice!
